About the artist...

Elizabeth Rand retired in 2005 from her medical practice of Psychiatry in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and moved with her husband and dog to Paris for a year.   Happily, a year became ten during which time she revived, after a 35 year hiatus, her lifelong interest in photography.   Immersed in  the sights and lights of Paris, and stimulated as well by the opportunity to travel across several continents, she has created a large body of work primarily in color.   Having given up the darkroom and film for the moment, she currently uses two digital cameras,  an Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless and a Nikon D-80 for macro.

Elizabeth  had the opportunity to participate in several group shows in Paris (beginning in 2010) and more recently in Tuscaloosa, and has an upcoming solo exhibit in March 2021 at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center.  In addition, she  created the front and back cover photos for the 2012 edition of "Bloom Where You're Planted", and contributed to a project entitled "Beauty Amid Destruction" sponsored by artists in her hometown of Tuscaloosa following the devastating 2011 tornado.  She also created a reportage series documenting the work of a Paris soup kitchen sponsored by a consortium of five Paris congregations.
